Strativa Pharmaceuticals today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Zuplenz® (ondansetron) oral soluble film for the prevention of postoperative, highly and moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy-induced, and radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Zuplenz, a unique formulation of ondansetron, is the first oral soluble film approved by the FDA as a prescription medication.
Although nausea and vomiting are common in children undergoing chemotherapy, few quality studies identify absolutely the best way to prevent and treat this problem in kids, said Robert Phillips, M.D., lead author of a new Cochrane review. The National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, part of the National Institutes of Health, funded the project."
Results of a study from Australia in this week's issue of THE LANCET provide reassurance to the safety of repeated ultrasound examination during pregnancy.
