Structural biologists show in a new study that an apparently key step in the process of cell division depends on a unique interaction among specific proteins, including one that is strongly linked to cancer. According to Australian of the Year Professor Patrick McGorry the federal government's failure to aid mental health resources is a "national obscenity." Karen Roberto and Tina Savla, both core faculty members of Virginia Tech's Center for Gerontology, are leading a five-year, $2.14 million study that will examine the role of extended family caregivers and their service use, needs, and challenges.
A researcher at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has found that the use of stimulants, such as methamphetamine, can negatively affect the health of HIV-positive persons even when they are adhering to medical treatment.
