Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Tradjenta tablets, a prescription medication used along with diet and exercise to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Although screening for prostate cancer with the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test in men ages 50-70 can detect the cancer before it becomes symptomatic, knowing whether screening is beneficial for these men is uncertain.
New research discovers a combination of drugs that may prove to be a more effective treatment for a lethal form of leukemia. The study, published by Cell Press in the May issue of the journal Cancer Cell, reports that the new therapeutic strategy effectively targets notoriously intractable leukemia stem cells that often escape standard treatment and are a main factor in disease relapse.
