Topokine Therapeutics has initiated dosing in a Phase 2, randomized controlled clinical trial of XAF5 Gel for reduction of excess submental fat, commonly known as "double chin." XAF5 Gel is a proprietary skin formulation of a compound already known to reduce fat around the human eye. Study participants are applying XAF5 Gel or placebo once a night to skin under the chin.
Long-term pain is perhaps the single most important factor that reduces quality of life for older people. New technology based on therapeutic smart textiles can make it easier to manage pain.
"PET/CT is very helpful in determining where we should pinpoint our biopsies for recurrent disease," said Dr. Carol Shores, assistant professor of otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at UNC and the report's senior author. Shores is a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Raptor Pharmaceutical Corp. today announced the presentation of clinical trial data on NGX426, the Company's orally administered, non-opioid, AMPA/kainate receptor antagonist, at the 12th International Conference on the Mechanisms and Treatment of Neuropathic Pain, held on November 20-21 in San Francisco.
Scientists from Cancer Research UK have discovered that there are five different types of prostate cancer and have found a way of distinguishing between them. These findings could change how the condition is treated, providing more effective therapies where they are needed the most.
