In a national poll aimed at helping with planning efforts for a public health response to a possible bioterrorism attack, researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) have found that, in response to a fictional scenario describing a significant anthrax attack in their city or town, most Americans (89%) will likely follow public health recommendations to obtain prophylactic antibiotics.
Responding to the launch of the Scottish Executive's public consultation on smoking in public places, Dr Bill O'Neill, Scottish Secretary of the BMA said: "I am pleased that the Scottish Executive has finally succumbed to public pressure and launched a consultation into the creation of more smoke free public areas.
According to a recent report by Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers, artificial intelligence (AI) should be used to expand the role of chest X-ray imaging - using computed tomography, or CT - in diagnosing and assessing coronavirus infection so that it can be more than just a means of screening for signs of COVID-19 in a patient's lungs.
