Humans use their senses to help keep track of short intervals of time according to new research, which suggests that our perception of time is not maintained by an internal body clock alone.
Younger African-American grandmothers who are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren may have different needs than older grandmothers, possibly requiring different types of support to reduce depression and improve the quality of their mental health, according to researchers at Georgia State University and Emory University.
A new study has shown that alcohol alters and damages the natural bacterial environment in the mouth. The study titled, "Drinking alcohol is associated with variation in the human oral microbiome in a large study of American adults," published this week (24th April 2018) in the journal Microbiome explored the effects of alcohol on these bacterial compositions within the mouth.
Allopurinol, a relatively inexpensive anti-gout medication that has been on the market for more than 20 years, may have some activity against colorectal adenomas, according to data presented at the Ninth Annual AACR Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Conference, held here Nov. 7-10, 2010.
Registration is now open for an interactive one day workshop in Brisbane, designed by GPs for GPs, that will cover five hot topics — including statin prescribing and whether the hype is justified on newer oral anticoagulants.
