A recent observational study by Spanish researchers, currently available on the medRxiv preprint server, suggests that patients with immune-mediated diseases who receive biological therapy may have a lower risk for severe manifestations of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Multiple sclerosis looks different from person to person. In many individuals, though, the difficulty in maintaining a sense of self and in keeping up intellectually can be the disease's most devastating manifestations.
Scientists used genetic sequencing to discover new evidence that the first vaccine shown to prevent HIV infection in people also affected the viruses in those who did become infected. Viruses with two genetic "footprints" were associated with greater vaccine efficacy. The results were published today in the online edition of the journal Nature.
Geisinger Health System received the elite Seven Seals Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a U.S. Department of Defense organization, in a ceremony today, July 9, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The Seven Seals Award is the highest award given by ESRG, and was created to publically recognize employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to employees and families of those who have been called to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.
