Pathological changes typical of Alzheimer's disease were significantly reduced in mice by blockade of an immune system transmitter. A research team from Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the University of Zurich has just published a new therapeutic approach in fighting Alzheimer's disease in the current issue of Nature Medicine. This approach promises potential in prevention, as well as in cases where the disease has already set in.

What isn't clear is how a community's poverty level affects the outcomes of having a joint replaced. Findings from a new study conducted by researchers from Hospital for Special Surgery suggest that lower socioeconomic status at the community level significantly increases the risk of pain and poor function following a knee replacement.
The lower the birth weight, the greater the chance of poor growth rate in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD), according to a new study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN).
