Many children who suffer fingertip injuries have been abused, according to a Rutgers study. The researchers found that children who had a documented history of abuse or neglect were 23 percent more likely to suffer a fingertip injury before age 12.
The Forum on Personalized Health Care today announced its third annual National Summit on Personalized Health Care, "Creating the Roadmap for Personalized Health Care." The 2010 Summit will give participants the singular opportunity to collaborate in creating a core short- and long-range roadmap to align, coordinate and accelerate delivery of personalized health care technologies and practices.
"India's health minister announced Tuesday a new initiative underway to boost the country's rate of immunizing newborns by collecting mobile phone numbers of all pregnant mothers to monitor their babies' vaccinations," the Wall Street Journal's "India Real Time" blog reports.
"There is profound disagreement about healthcare reform's overall impact on jobs. … While the net effect on jobs remains uncertain, it is clear that certain professions will do better than others." Among the specific job categories likely do well are insurance agents, who "may get a boost since approximately 32 million uninsured Americans will be required to buy health insurance starting in 2014.
