Research from an investigator at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and colleagues from the National Cancer Institute and other facilities, shows differences in a certain type of small protein vary by race and may contribute differently to the development of lung cancer in African Americans and European Americans.
Three subtypes of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) could guide the design of personalized treatment for lung cancer patients, according to a new study in Cancer Cell led by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The finding, appearing online in the journal Circulation, is the first to document a genetic mutation linked to PAD. Although the work was done in mice, researchers say it is likely to give them new insight into how PAD develops and progresses in humans.
TESARO, Inc., an oncology-focused biopharmaceutical company, today announced that it has secured $60 million in start-up funding to acquire, develop and commercialize cancer therapeutics and supportive care products. Participants in a $20 million Series A financing included New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and TESARO management; additionally, NEA has reserved $40 million to support company growth.
Researchers at Hospital for Special Surgery set out to test this hypothesis. They found that people who lacked good social ties were much more likely to experience serious, ongoing pain following total hip replacement surgery two or more years after the procedure.
