ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARIA) today announced that the independent Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) of the Phase 3 SUCCEED trial has completed the first interim efficacy analysis as specified by the study protocol and has recommended that the randomized, placebo-controlled trial of oral ridaforolimus in patients with metastatic sarcomas continue to full patient enrollment and completion.
A new study shows that quitting smoking after a heart attack has immediate benefits, including less chest pain, better quality of daily life and improved mental health. Many of these improvements became apparent as little as one month after quitting and are more pronounced after one year, according to the research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
A research team led by Paul Marasco, Ph.D., of Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute, has won a $2.5 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The contract was awarded through DARPA's new Hand Proprioception and Touch Interfaces (HAPTIX) program, which aims to deliver naturalistic sensations to amputees and enable better control over their prosthetic limbs through direct connections to users' nervous systems.
