The Wall Street Journal reports that Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine continues to be a key swing vote as the Senate Finance Committee wraps up its work in its health bill version and prepares to move it to the Senate floor. "Early Friday, Ms. Snowe said she was not sure how she would vote. 'I've got to review the document and go from there,' she said of the revised bill.
Physicians should strive to replace traditional, invasive procedures for diagnosing breast cancer with proven, less-invasive diagnostic methods, according to an international panel of breast cancer experts convened at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
It is not known whether drugs that block or, in the case of marijuana, over-stimulate the CB1 receptor can cause ectopic pregnancy in humans. However, "our results raise caution for women of reproductive ages regarding the chronic use of marijuana for recreation or pain alleviation," the researchers concluded.
Reducing the number of preventable patient injuries in California hospitals from 2001 to 2005 was associated with a corresponding drop in malpractice claims against physicians, according to a study issued today by the RAND Corporation.
