According to Audit Scotland it will examine whether health boards are wrongly classifying patients as "unavailable" in order to remove them from waiting lists. This practice is already uncovered at NHS Lothian.
According to South Australia Health authorities, 13 more people have fallen ill with salmonella that spread via three types of custard-filled pastries made in Adelaide. This brings the total number of ill people to 74 with 29 admitted to hospital with salmonella typhimurium phage type 9 infection. The custard-filled products from Vili's and St George Cakes and Gelati were recalled after being associated with the salmonella outbreak.
Results of two clinical trials reported at the American Society for Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting 2015 show continued promise of immune therapies nivolumab and pembrolizumab against advanced melanomas, specifically in the context of PD1 signaling that some tumors use to avoid immune system attack. Dr. Rene Gonzalez, MD, investigator at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and director of the Melanoma Research Clinics at the CU School of Health, is an author of both studies.
Perrigo Company today announced that its partner, PharmaForce/Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, received final approval for Epinastine HCl ophthalmic solution, 0.05%, a generic version of Elestat. Perrigo will commence shipment of the product immediately.
