A new study of itch adds to growing evidence that the chemical signals that make us want to scratch are the same signals that make us wince in pain.
As the United States prepares to add 32 million more patients to the health care system through health care reform, 11 of the leading medical societies in the country joined together today to publicly support the introduction of the Health Care Truth and Transparency Act of 2010.
GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney was the target of boos after he told the NAACP that he'd repeal Obama's federal health law if he became president. The audience, however, applauded other parts of his speech.
Researchers at Montana State University have developed six new biomedical technologies that could have applications for treating antibiotic resistant infections, fungal infections and viral infections; boosting humans' innate immunity and improving scientists' ability to study such compounds. The technologies are available for licensing to interested companies and entrepreneurs.
"A constitutional debate is under way in Nigeria over whether the government can prosecute parents who refuse to have their children vaccinated against polio, or if it has the power to force parents to have their children vaccinated against any communicable disease," VOA News reports.
