Welcome to syngo®.plaza, the new agile PACS solution for the clinical routine from Siemens Healthcare. As the first Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) from Siemens where 2D, 3D, and 4D reading come together in one place, syngo.plaza is poised to change the way multimodality images are read today.
Spinal cord injuries cause severe functional disabilities in those who sustain them, including paraplegia or tetraplegia, depending on the scale of the injury. This is due to the degeneration of the spinal pathways that carry nerve signals from the brain to the different parts of the body and vice versa, resulting in loss of mobility and sensitivity underneath the injured area.
Timothy Blake, a postdoctoral fellow in the Waymouth lab, was hard at work on a fantastical interdisciplinary experiment. He and his fellow researchers were refining compounds that would carry instructions for assembling the protein that makes fireflies light up and deliver them into the cells of an anesthetized mouse. If their technique worked, the mouse would glow in the dark.
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) will undertake a study into why futile medical treatment is, at times, provided to dying patients.
