Pfizer today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved GeodonĀ® (ziprasidone HCI) Capsules for maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder as an adjunct to lithium or valproate in adults. The study showed that postmenopausal women who used it for 2 years showed a modest increase in bone mineral density and decrease in bone resorption (loss). The study was published in the February 23 issue of JAMA.
