A new study in today's issue of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery found minimal risk for severe infection with osseointegrated implants-a newer prosthetic system, press-fitted directly into the femur bone-that enables bone growth over a metal, robotic prosthetic limb in patients with above knee amputations.
New research issued by the PFD Alliance finds that 90 percent of Americans underestimate or are unsure about the prevalence of pelvic floor disorders (PFDs) which will impact one in three women at some point during their lives. This means many women undertreat PFDs and suffer in silence.
As the new health insurance exchanges prepare to open for business, a new Harris Poll provides more evidence of how few Americans understand how they will work. Large majorities of the public, including the uninsured Americans who are supposed to use the exchanges, know little or nothing about them.
Australian researchers have found that special immune cells of the body not only protect us from the invading bacteria, viruses and microbes but also play a role in reducing the aggressiveness of the melanoma cells.
