According to researchers in Norway mammograms may detect some cancers that would have otherwise regressed.
Children who have survived a cancer are at a higher risk of an early death says two new studies. The first report published in the April 6th issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine, said that there was a cumulative effect of the disease, a childhood cancer and its treatment on the risk of death in 15 year old patients who have been cancer free for at least 5 years.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital scientists led the study, which appears today in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

And more recent work suggests it might also work as a cancer therapy - slowing down or preventing a cancer's spread. But the drug can also have unpleasant and dangerous side effects, causing irritation of the stomach lining and internal bleeds in a very small minority of patients.
