Three year old children who spend more than eight hours watching television per week are at an increased risk of obesity, finds a study published online by the BMJ this week.
The newest issue of the Journal of Urban Health: Bulletin of The New York Academy of Medicine includes a host of compelling research findings regarding risky sexual behavior in the vacation hotspot of Miami, racial influences on the quality of children's medical care, and willingness of blacks to use the Internet to manage their diabetes. These studies are summarized below.
Nightingale Informatix Corporation, an application service provider (ASP) of electronic medical record (EMR) software and related services today announced that during its fiscal 2011 second quarter ended September 30, it signed agreements to deploy its Nightingale On Demand EMR and practice management solution with healthcare providers across Canada, representing more than 200 seats (A "Seat" is defined as a paying healthcare provider using Nightingale's Electronic Medical Record).
Improper functioning of the mitochondria, a cell's source of energy, may help account for the fact that African-American men with prostate cancer respond poorly to the same conventional therapies provided to Caucasian-American men, according to research led by Dhyan Chandra, PhD, Associate Professor of Oncology in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
