A large body of research finds that physically abused children have a very high risk of developing emotional and behavioral problems later in life.
Gilead Sciences, Inc. has announced receipt of a Paragraph IV Certification Notice Letter advising that Teva Pharmaceuticals submitted an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requesting permission to manufacture and market a generic version of Atripla (efavirenz 600 mg/emtricitabine 200 mg/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg). Atripla is currently sold in the United States through a joint venture between Bristol-Myers Squibb and Gilead.
In the world of personal protective equipment, bad assumptions are hazardous and can result in injury - or worse. Yet, despite 25 years of government regulation, a handful of persistent bad assumptions are widespread - endangering both the effectiveness of occupational Hearing Conservation Programs (HCPs) - and worker hearing.
A new survey by the Prostate Research Campaign UK illustrates the difficulties in targeting health services at men. More than 80% of the men surveyed claimed to book their GP appointments themselves - but 39% of their wives or partners said that in fact it was they who did it.
Researchers at The University of Western Ontario have discovered a strategy for stimulating the formation of highly functional new blood vessels in tissues that are starved of oxygen. Dr. Geoffrey Pickering and Matthew Frontini at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry developed a strategy in which a biological factor, called fibroblast growth factor 9, is delivered at the same time that the body is making its own effort at forming new blood vessels in vulnerable or damaged tissue.
