New research from experts at the University of Nottingham could lead to an improved vaccine to protect against the bacterium, Neisseria meningitides that causes sepsis and meningitis.
Scientists at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit today presented data at the American Association for Cancer Research's 101st Annual Meeting 2010 that shows when genistein, a component of soy, is paired with the FDA-approved drug oxaliplatin, pancreatic cancer cells become more sensitive to chemotherapy.
The NHS is developing new ways to help older people maintain and improve their health and avoid hospital admission under a new healthcare programme being piloted in nine English primary care trusts. Interim results of the pilot sites have been welcomed today by the Department of Health.
A review of worldwide studies has found that add-on treatment with high-dose b-vitamins - including B6, B8 and B12 - can significantly reduce symptoms of schizophrenia more than standard treatments alone.
