As a result of a worldwide cooperative movement, the absolute driving ban for people with epilepsy (PWE) has been lifted in Japan. Since 1960, people who have epilepsy have been banned from driving in Japan.
The Fresh Market will hold its 16th annual "Hope Floats" Sidewalk Sale on September 10 through September 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The Fresh Market's stores, located in 20 states across the Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, will offer root beer floats, hot dogs, gourmet cookies and ice cream sundaes in exchange for a donation to JDRF in support of its mission to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.
In response to reports that women may be using an unapproved drug, domperidone, to increase milk production (lactation), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning breastfeeding women not to use this product because of safety concerns. Today, FDA also issued six letters to pharmacies that compound products containing domperidone and firms that supply domperidone for use in compounding.
Group Health has been approved for two research awards from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study ways to improve care for back pain and to connect patients with community resources.
