An increasing number of US adults are using marijuana, as fewer people perceive the drug as harmful, according to a survey of over 500000 US adults conducted between 2002 and 2014 published in The Lancet Psychiatry.
New research shows that there are several interventions that could help prevent cognitive decline. According to the latest report entitled "Preventing Cognitive Decline and Dementia: A Way Forward," from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), cognitive training, increase in physical activity, control of blood pressure adequately among those with a high blood pressure are all fruitful measures to reduce cognitive decline. However evidence to support these three interventions is encouraging but insufficient to justify a public health campaign focused on their adoption.
According to recently published Pharmaion report, "Europe Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Treatments Market Opportunities, 2010 - 2020", the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatments market in Europe is anticipated to cross US$ 3 billion by 2019.
"There is great hope that we can finally stop infants from getting infected with HIV by their mothers. But first, countries with high rates of HIV infection must work out how to deliver reliable health programs to protect babies form their mothers' infected breastmilk," Pierre Barker, senior vice president of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, writes in the Huffington Post's "Global Motherhood" blog.
Most professional athletes are able to return to competition within a year after vertebral fusion surgery on the upper (cervical) spine, reports a study in the July issue of Neurosurgery, official journal of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. The journal is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.
