The University of Michigan Medical School today announced the establishment of the Eric J. Topol Professorship in Cardiovascular Medicine. A world-renowned cardiologist, Dr. Topol is currently chief academic officer at Scripps Health and a senior cardiologist practitioner at Scripps Clinic.
Saint John's Health Center Trustee and philanthropist Patrick Soon-Shiong, M.D., who developed the first FDA-approved protein nanoparticle treatment for cancer, has received the 2010 Distinguished Medical Science Award from the Friends of the National Library of Medicine for his significant contributions to the research and treatment of diabetes and cancer.
If we can set aside the political wrangling and focus on the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, what becomes obvious is its critically important impact on women's health.
