The four drug-combination of carboplatin and paclitaxel, with the targeted therapies bevacizumab (Avastin) and cetuximab (Erbitux), is safe and may improve survival for patients with advanced lung cancer, according to a cooperative group study led by The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Alimera Sciences, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company that specializes in the research, development and commercialization of prescription ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, today announced that a new analysis of data from its Phase 3 (FAME) clinical trials for Iluvien, the company's investigational intravitreal insert being studied for diabetic macular edema (DME), indicates that patient vision continues to improve significantly over 30 months.
The largest-ever study of treatments for type 2 diabetes has shown that a combination of two blood pressure lowering drugs reduced the risk of death, as well as the risks of heart and kidney disease.
The Los Angeles Times reports that this move was included in a bulky set of regulations issued last week and comes as part of an effort to minimize next year's expected premium rate increases.
Those considered high-risk for melanoma-the most dangerous form of skin cancer-are no more likely to sunbathe protected than those who are unaware of their risk, according to a new study conducted by McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) researchers.
