Southern Research has been awarded a seven-year contract of up to $22 million to support research that could contribute to the cure of HIV disease. Under this contract, Southern Research will develop and standardize assays that quantitate latent reservoirs of HIV.
Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a leading health information exchange (HIE) solutions provider specializing in laboratory, pathology and physician electronic medical record (EMR) system interoperability, has introduced a new critical value alerting and reporting feature for its ITF-GoDoc solution. ITF-GoDoc enables physicians to securely access laboratory, pathology and radiology result reports from their iPhone, Droid or Blackberry Storm-powered smartphones.
During her medical school career, third-year student Skylar Nahi has taken advantage of the mentorship and research opportunities available to Feinberg students.
Today the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has approved the use of MabThera for two potentially life-threatening auto-immune diseases, GPA and MPA, which result in the inflammation and damage of small blood vessels and frequently involve multiple organs. The two diseases affect over 13,000 people in the UK and are characterised by the breaking down of specific areas of tissue in the body that, if not treated, can lead to organ damage, organ failure and even death.
VolitionRx Limited, a life sciences company focused on developing blood-based diagnostic tests for different types of cancer, today releases new data showing that when combining two of its proprietary NuQ assays into one test, they can achieve 85% detection rates at 85% specificity for colorectal cancer. The data also shows that Volition's two-assay test can detect more than 50% of precancerous polyps. These new findings come from its ongoing prospective study with CHU Dinant Godinne | UCL Namur Hospital in Belgium.
