Research from the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation reveals a new complexity to nerve cells in the brain that could affect future therapies aimed at altering mood and memory in humans.
New research showing that thrill-seeking teenagers are especially susceptible to fruit-flavored cigarettes is in line with the recent ban on the sale of flavored cigarettes by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in September 2009. According to the FDA, the ban, authorized by the new Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, is part of a national effort by the FDA to reduce smoking, which is the leading preventable cause of death in America.
New research published in Depression and Anxiety indicates that, unlike other anxiety disorders, social anxiety disorder may have a direct effect on alcoholism.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company today announced results from a Phase II clinical trial in which treatment with the investigational direct-acting antiviral BMS-790052, an NS5A replication complex inhibitor, in combination with PEG-Interferon alfa and ribavirin, achieved sustained virologic response 12 weeks post-treatment in up to 92% of treatment-naïve patients chronically infected with hepatitis C genotype 1.
