In New Hampshire, Foster's Daily Democrat reports: "As unemployment statistics increase and the economic climate deteriorates, a large group of people who would otherwise likely not need mental health services are finding themselves at an increased risk for depression, anxiety, compulsive behaviors and substance abuse, according (to) the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services."

According to a latest study many medical devices recalled in recent years by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because they posed a high risk to patients were not rigorously studied before being approved for patient use. The study, appearing on the web site of The Archives of Internal Medicine, said that most medical devices that were the subject of high-risk recalls from 2005 to 2009 had been cleared through a regulatory pathway with little testing. This included external heart defibrillators, hospital infusion pumps and mechanical ventilators.
Americans who don't count themselves confused by the current debate over Medicare must be in the minority. Mitt Romney and Republican running mate Rep. Paul D. Ryan accused President Obama of hurting seniors by cutting $716 billion from the federal health program. The president retorts that the Republicans would "end Medicare as we know it." The truth is that both sides have plans that dramatically change the nearly half-century-old program.
