An international study led by the Lipids&Liver research team at the UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, the results of which have recently been published in the prestigious journal Cancer Research, has demonstrated that inhibiting either of the proteins E2F1 or E2F2 in the liver protects against the development of obesity-driven nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and its progression to cancer.
Scientists on the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) have developed new opioid pain relievers that reduce pain on par with morphine but do not slow or stop breathing-;the cause of opiate overdose.
NextGen Group plc is pleased to announce that its US-subsidiary NextGen Sciences Inc, a leader in biomarker discovery, measurement and qualification, has launched its first cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) multiple protein assay, csfdiscovery43, for central nervous system (CNS) biomarker discovery and qualification.
"The White House tried Monday to douse speculation that it might raise taxes on the middle class in violation of President Obama's campaign promise, just a day after two of his top economic advisers left the door open to such a move to rein in spiraling deficits," The New York Times reports.
