Running multiple marathons does not increase the risk of atherosclerosis, according to research published today in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
Eventus Diagnostics, Inc. today announced completion of a $2.72 million financing. The financing was led by a new family office private investor, and existing investors also participated. Proceeds of the financing will mostly be used to support the continued development and commercialization of the company's Octava breast cancer tests.
A team of researchers from the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine have identified critical complex mechanisms involved in the metastasis of deadly "triple negative" breast cancers. These tumors are extremely difficult to treat, frequently return after remission, and are the most aggressive form of breast cancer in women. The discovery of this critical interaction of mechanisms could be used to develop new life saving treatments to kill metastatic tumors in TNBC.
Roche announced today that it has received approval from the U.S. Department of Defense to provide remote service and support for its lab analyzers at Womack Army Medical Center through the DOD's secure B2B gateway. Roche is the first in-vitro diagnostics manufacturer to be approved by the DOD for this remote access.
"There is an urgent need to develop new therapeutic approaches for diseases that disproportionately impact" blacks, Hispanics and other groups, Nancy Bennett, professor of medicine and director of the University of Rochester Medical Center for Community Health, and Ann Dozier, associate professor in the department of community and preventive medicine, write in a Rochester Democrat and Chronicle opinion piece.
