ATS Medical, Inc. manufacturer and marketer of state-of-the-art cardiac surgery products and services, announced today that the FDA has approved a landmark clinical study in which cardiac surgeons will implant the ATS 3f(R) Aortic Bioprosthesis in a younger aortic valve replacement patient population that has not been previously studied in a controlled and scientific manner.
All the Registered Dietitians in the U.S. that work fulltime in pro or college athletic programs ("Sports RDs") would fit comfortably in one Boeing 727. And most of them will be landing in St. Louis May 20th for the 5th annual conference of the Collegiate & Professional Sports Dietitians Association at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel.
UnitedHealth Group's health services division, Optum, hopes to do for the complex and fragmented health care system what Apple has done for all manner of information that consumers need. The idea is to get health care data out of scattered hospitals, doctors' offices and insurance claims departments and move it to the cloud, an Internet-based platform that would let doctors and patients get access to all the information they need through one website.
Skin from a factory - this has long been the dream of pharmacologists, chemists and doctors. Research has an urgent need for large quantities of 'skin models', which can be used to determine if products such as creams and soaps, cleaning agents, medicines and adhesive bandages are compatible with skin, or if they instead will lead to irritation or allergic reactions for the consumer. Such test results are seen as more meaningful than those from animal experiments, and can even make such experiments largely superfluous.
