A new issue brief from the National Institute of Health Care Management adds grist to the mill of those who rebelled against the universal insurance mandate. The study showed that in 2009 half the population – fully 150 million people – spent an average of just $236 per person on health care.
The Advanced Wound Management division of Smith & Nephew, Inc., a subsidiary of Smith & Nephew plc today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas entered a favorable judgment in the patent litigation brought by Kinetic Concepts Inc. relating to the Smith & Nephew RENASYS-F (Foam) dressing kit.
Benign growth, or cancer? Tumor markers in the blood help determine whether the patient is afflicted with a malign tumor and whether it is excreting markers more vigorously - involving highly specific proteins. An increased concentration in the blood provides one indication of the disease for physicians. However, it has been quite expensive in time and effort to detect the markers thus far. This is because all kinds of molecules and proteins are teeming in the blood. To be able to detect a single specific one, doctors must first separate and purify the blood in several steps, and then isolate the marker they are searching for from the rest of the molecules.
The anti-anginal medication ranolazine was shown to be safe in regard to certain outcomes but did not reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as death, heart attack or recurrent ischemia following acute coronary syndromes, according to a study in the April 25 issue of JAMA.
The Hon Karen Andrews, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology is opening the Translational Research Institute's new state-of-the-art clinical cleanroom manufacturing and training facility, T3 Cleanrooms, and the inaugural MTPCareers Symposium on Wednesday 14 October 2020.
