An international team, led by a University of Adelaide genetics expert, has made a breakthrough discovery which is expected to help thousands of young girls worldwide who are suffering from a rare yet debilitating form of epilepsy.
Continence problems are among the most common pediatric health problems. It's commonly believed that continence problems resolve with age in all children.
The National Association of State Boards of Education, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as part of its Leadership for Healthy Communities (LHC) national program, will select four states to receive grants this spring to help them develop policies to fight childhood obesity in their public schools.
A new, less toxic way to treat malignant melanoma (skin cancer) is being developed by medicinal chemists at Reading University. They have produced a range of prodrugs: compounds that offer the potential to be converted to toxic molecules only within the vicinity of tumours. These prodrugs aim to reduce the toxicity of treatment.
Workers at Garfield Medical Center in suburban Los Angeles were on edge as the pandemic ramped up in March and April. Staffers in a 30-patient unit were rationing a single tub of sanitizing wipes all day. A May memo from the CEO said N95 masks could be cleaned up to 20 times before replacement.
