A new study by Massachusetts General Hospital investigators released today in JAMA Network Open, a publication of the Journal of the American Medical Association, showed that labeling food choices in a hospital cafeteria with simple "traffic-light" symbols indicating their relative health value was associated with a reduction in calories purchased by employees, and that the dietary changes were sustained over two years.
The Associated Press reports on how people who take advantage of federal subsidies to buy insurance could owe taxes if they don't accurately forecast their income.
John DeLuca, PhD, vice president for research at Kessler Foundation, is the featured speaker at the grand opening of the new Science Complex at William Paterson University's College of Science and Health. Dr. DeLuca, a well known expert in cognitive function, will discuss "Neuroimaging, Brain and Behavior: New Opportunities for the Future," on March 1, 2012 12:30 to 1:05 pm in the Science East Lecture Hall.
Through this unique partnership, the Baltimore-based Insilico Medicine and Lethbridge-based CCARL will provide expertise in aging research and build on the personalized medicine and drug discovery platforms OncoFinder and GeroScope to develop new systems for age-related diseases.
Scientists at the Robarts Research Institute at The University of Western Ontario, working in collaboration with researchers in Brazil, have used a unique genetically-modified mouse line to reveal a previously unidentified mechanism contributing to heart failure.
