Guidance for the prevention of type 2 diabetes out today from NICE urges GPs to step up efforts to get high-risk patients onto lifestyle intervention programmes. As trailed at the end of last year, the guidance recommends that GPs run checks on their practice register using a validated computerised diabetes risk tool and invite those falling into high-risk groups for a proper risk assessment, in line with the NHS Health Check programme.
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has received CEO Cancer Gold Standardâ„¢ accreditation, recognizing the organization's commitment to taking concrete actions to reduce the cancer risk of its employees and their families through screenings, early detection, and healthy changes in lifestyle and in the workplace.
Previous research published earlier this year in Nature Medicine involving University of Minnesota Medical School faculty Paul D. Robbins and Laura J. Niedernhofer and Mayo Clinic investigators James L. Kirkland and Tamara Tchkonia, showed it was possible to reduce the burden of damaged cells, termed senescent cells, and extend lifespan and improve health, even when treatment was initiated late in life.
Urodynamix Technologies Ltd. today announces that it has commenced a pilot sales and marketing program with Cardinal Health for its uroNIRS 2000, an innovative technology for the non-invasive diagnosis of bladder conditions. The 90-day pilot program will be used to by Urodynamix and Cardinal Health to evaluate the viability of adding the uroNIRS 2000 to Cardinal Health's catalogue of offerings to the urology market.
In partnership with a national nursing organization and several federal agencies, the AMA released an educational guide on April 7 about how health care professionals should identify and treat foodborne illnesses. "Diagnosis and Management of Foodborne Illnesses: A Primer for Physicians and Other Health Care Professionals" contains charts, scenarios and a continuing medical education section. It is free to health care professionals.
