Scientists have been exploring new ways to "smell" signs of cancer by analyzing what's in patients' breath. In ACS' journal Nano Letters, one team now reports new progress toward this goal. The researchers have developed a small array of flexible sensors, which accurately detect compounds in breath samples that are specific to ovarian cancer.
Stand Up To Cancer has awarded a $2.5 million SU2C CatalystR grant to the Translational Genomics Research Institute to investigate a revolutionary new method of treating pancreatic cancer, one of the most aggressive of all cancers.
Just as plastic tips protect the ends of shoelaces and keep them from fraying when we tie them, molecular tips called telomeres protect the ends of chromosomes and keep them from fusing when cells continually divide and duplicate their DNA.
Evaluation of antibody responses in patients with advanced prostate cancer from these studies shows that the GVAX cell-based immunotherapy induces antibody responses to a broad array of prostate cancer- associated antigens, including some not previously known to be associated with prostate cancer.
Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued three patents relating to rifaximin.
