Health economists from Johns Hopkins University writing in The Journal of Pain (www.jpain.org) reported the annual cost of chronic pain is as high as $635 billion a year, which is more than the yearly costs for cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
For the seventh year in a row, Meridian Health's Red Dress event will celebrate American Heart Month and raise awareness for women's heart health. The fun-filled, health-focused event will take place at Watermark, a chic lounge in Asbury Park. In partnership with The Heart Truth campaign, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Meridian CardioVascular Network's Red Dress event will showcase fashions from the famous Red Dress Collection.
Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp. announced today that the first patients have been treated in the randomized GALAXY-2 Phase 3 trial designed to evaluate docetaxel plus ganetespib, its investigational Hsp90 inhibitor, versus docetaxel alone for the second-line treatment of non-small cell lung adenocarcinoma.
Researchers at Harvard-affiliated McLean Hospital and the University of Utah have developed the best biologically based test for autism to date. The test was able to detect the disorder in individuals with high-functioning autism with 94 percent accuracy. The study will be published online the week of November 29th in Autism Research.
