Botulinum neurotoxin type A—better known as Botox—has previously unsuspected 'systemic' effects on muscles other than the ones it's injected into, reports a study in the January issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia, official journal of the International Anesthesia Research Society.
Treatment with a novel agent that inhibits the activity of SIRT2, an enzyme that regulates many important cellular functions, reduced neurological damage, slowed the loss of motor function and extended survival in two animal models of Huntington's disease.
Advanced Cell Diagnostics, Inc. (ACD), a global technology and market leader in in situ nucleic acid detection for life science research and clinical diagnostics, has been awarded a two-year, $1.4 million grant from National Cancer Institute (NCI) under its SBIR Phase II Program.
Self-reported moderate to vigorous exercise was associated with lower blood pressure and blood glucose levels in a Kaiser Permanente study published in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease.
