As part of a multi-faceted initiative geared to significantly reduce college binge drinking and coinciding with National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, The Century Council, a not-for-profit organization funded by distillers dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking, has provided a $100,000 research grant to the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) to learn more about the role of emergency services with regard to college binge drinking.
A post-campaign survey of AIDS Healthcare Foundation's (AHF) innovative "Stay Negative" social marketing campaign recently revealed the initiative's success at breaking through to its target audience and reaching its objective to create an effective health education and risk reduction campaign to raise awareness among gay males in Los Angeles County that HIV infection is still a serious threat.
Researchers from Hull, Bristol and Frankfurt have shown that a new technique for identifying molecular structure can be used effectively on small samples of biological proteins, particularly proteins that are targeted for drug development.
In this interview, Dr. Imalka Jayawardena from the University of Surrey talks about the development of a flexible X-ray detector that will help clinicians analyze X-ray images and deliver targeted doses of radiation when using X-rays as a treatment.
"Spearheaded by USAID, President Obama's food security initiative - Feed the Future - is helping countries develop their own agricultural sectors so they can feed themselves," USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah writes in a post on the agency's "IMPACTblog."
