Systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels for children and teenagers have risen substantially since 1988, according to a new study supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), part of the National Institutes of Health. The study links part of the rise to a concurrent increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity.
Throughout the month of April (National Child Abuse Prevention Month), National Children's Alliance and its thousands of members and supporters across the country are bringing much needed attention to the issues of child abuse intervention and prevention. NeuroDerm, Ltd. announced today the results of a Phase I/II safety and pharmacokinetic trial of ND0611, administered as an adjunct therapy to Sinemet, Sinemet CR or Stalevo, in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease.
Strength training exercises using dumbbells can reduce pain and improve function in the trapezius muscle, the large muscle which extends from the back of the head, down the neck and into the upper back. The exercises also improve the muscle's ability to respond quickly and forcefully among women suffering trapezius myalgia, a tenderness and tightness in the upper trapezius muscle.
A new study published on the preprint server bioRxiv* in May 2020 reports the presence of ACE2 receptors in the eye at high concentrations. These molecules are the entry points for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that is causing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
