The Gerontological Society of America — the nation's largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to the field of aging — has chosen Heather M. Young, PhD, RN, FAAN, of the University of California, Davis, as the 2014 recipient of the Doris Schwartz Gerontological Nursing Research Award.
Although we are still far from knowing exactly where and how the pineal suppressive role is exerted, the fact that the gland exerts an inhibitory function on the reproductive axis is widely accepted.
