A new risk prediction tool can identify patients at high risk of serious blood clots (known as venous thromboembolism) who might need preventative treatment, says a study published on bmj.com today.
Æterna Zentaris Inc. a late-stage drug development company specialized in oncology and endocrinology, today announced that it will make an oral presentation, as well as a poster presentation on Erk/PI3K inhibitor compounds, Tuesday, April 20, at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting, to be held April 17-21, 2010 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
Anpac Bio-Medical Science Co., Ltd., Chief Executive Officer Dr. Chris Yu announced that Venture Capital (VC) Firm, Shanghai Zhangjiang Science &Technology Investment Corporation (ZJSTIC), as well as private investors related to the insurance industry, have again invested over $2 Million to support Anpac's "Cancer Differentiation Analysis" (CDA) technology.
The study, which appears in the December 18 online version of Cell Stem Cell and the January 2009 print edition of the journal, provides proof of principle that alternative sources of stem cells can be created.
Research conducted at Texas A&M University casts doubts on the notion that El Ni-o has been getting stronger because of global warming and raises interesting questions about the relationship between El Ni-o and a severe flu pandemic 91 years ago. The findings are based on analysis of the 1918 El Ni-o, which the new research shows to be one of the strongest of the 20th century.
