Capital Impact Partners announced today that its 2014 fourth quarter lending to projects in underserved communities topped $45 million. Highlights of this financing included continued Capital Impact leadership in funding Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) projects to increase the availability of healthcare to low income residents; supporting inclusive housing growth in Detroit by closing the first loan through the organization's partnership with JPMorgan Chase & Co.; and leveraging New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) to support a variety of projects.
An international US-Danish team of scientists, led by Damini Jawaheer, Ph.D. at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute, has identified a possible link between type I interferons and a natural improvement of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) during pregnancy.
Anyone who supports the plan to cover Americans who couldn't get health insurance has to hope the administration quickly gets it right. But you can't help but wonder: Where was all this frantic effort in the three-and-a-half years from the time Obama signed the health law to the day the exchanges opened on Oct. 1?
