We may view our memory as being essential to who we are, but new findings suggest that others consider our moral traits to be the core component of our identity. Data collected from family members of patients suffering from neurodegenerative disease showed that it was changes in moral behavior, not memory loss, that caused loved ones to say that the patient wasn't "the same person" anymore.
Two years ago, the Center for Science in the Public Interest warned the editors of the Journal of the American Medical Association and other leading scientific journals that there was a persistent pattern of non-disclosure of conflicts of interest by researchers publishing articles within their pages.
Conventional melanoma therapies, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, suffer from the toxicity and side effects of repeated treatments due to the aggressive and recurrent nature of melanoma cells.
The Endocrine Society and Society for Women's Health Research are co-sponsoring a Congressional briefing on February 17 that will focus on the importance of including female subjects in both preclinical and clinical biomedical research, which could potentially revolutionize medical research and scientific discovery.
