Researchers at UBC's Okanagan campus have developed a new and improved method to judge the effectiveness of experimental therapies for neurodegeneration-the progressive loss of neurons.
A telephone-delivered nursing care strategy that combined heart failure care management with depression treatment improved patients' clinical outcomes, discovered clinicians from the University of Pittsburgh.
This research, reported in this week's issue of Science, is part of a larger research initiative being led by Adolfo Garcia-Sastre, PhD, Professor of Microbiology and Peter Palese, PhD, Professor and Chairman of Microbiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is associated with emotions, movement, and the brain's pleasure and reward system. In the current issue of Advances in Neuroimmune Biology, investigators provide a broad overview of the direct and indirect role of dopamine in modulating the immune system and discuss how recent research has opened up new possibilities for treating diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis or even the autoimmune disorders.
Devon Medical, a global medical device manufacturer, designer, and distributor, announced today that it has received medical device registration and approval from the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA - Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária) for its extriCARE 2400 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy pump.
