Complex interventions such as preventive home visits and community-based care after hospital discharge can help improve physical function and maintain independent living in older people, according to a Bristol University study of more than 90,000 older people published in this week's edition of the Lancet.
Arguments in the two cases, which are the first two challenges to the Obama administration's health overhaul to advance from the federal to appellate level, mark the beginning in what some say is a race to the Supreme Court.
Researchers from the Golden Jubilee National Hospital and the University of Glasgow have reported a study that shows one in ten patients may not need cardiac intervention following a heart attack and in those that do need stents, the procedure can be targeted more effectively.
