Florida Hospital today announced it's the first in the United States to implement the Babyleo TN500 IncuWarmer beds from Draeger, Inc., a world leader in medical technology. With an estimated 15 million babies born preterm annually according to the World Health Organization, this technology is critically important for both babies and families. The beds are in use in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) at three hospitals across the health system in Central Florida.
Another deadly virus called the Keystone virus that could cause serious brain infection and is transmitted by mosquito bites has been found for the first time to be infecting humans. Until now the virus was noted to infect only animals.
Gastric cancer is the number two cancer killer worldwide and one of the top cancer killers in the U.S., but gastric cancer research gets the least federal funding of any type of cancer research. According to a CBS News analysis of data released by the American Cancer Society, for every cancer-related death in the U.S., only $1,168 federal research dollars are spent on gastric cancer, versus $18,870 for cancer of the cervix and $14,095 for breast cancer.
NeurOp Corporation today announced a collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) focused upon the development of NeurOp's proprietary small molecules for use in the treatment of major depression and other central nervous system disorders.
Researchers from the Mayo Clinic confirm that ultrasound-based transient elastography (TE) provides excellent diagnostic accuracy for detecting cirrhosis due to recurrent infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection following liver transplantation.
