British scientists have developed the first pair of bionic glasses that could help thousands of legally blind people. These glasses using tiny cameras and software technology from video games, alert the wearer to objects in their surroundings using flashing lights.
A new nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory therapy made from a human protein significantly decreases disease signs of asthma in mice, opening the possibility of a new asthma therapy for patients who do not respond to current steroid treatments. Results of this therapy in an animal model were presented at The Endocrine Society's 92nd Annual Meeting in San Diego.
Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason recently received a grant to research how blocking a particular molecule in metastatic breast cancer reduces both the growth of primary tumors and the number of lung metastases.
Scientists have discovered a neurological origin for absence seizures-a type of seizure characterized by very short periods of lost consciousness in which people appear to stare blankly at nothing.
