Lee, MD, Ph.D. of Massachusetts General Hospital is awarded a two-year ANGEL Grant for $600,000 to focus on reactivating the silent X chromosome for Rett syndrome and Davut Pehlivan, MDof Baylor College of Medicine is awarded a two-year Mentored Clinical Fellowship for $250,000 to study MECP2 Duplication syndrome.
A study published in the July 15, 2005 issue of CANCER, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society, finds delays of EBRT had no harmful impact on clinical outcome or biochemical marker levels in low-, intermediate- and high-risk patients.
The Guardian's "Poverty Matters Blog" examines efforts to prevent and treat cervical cancer in sub-Saharan Africa, where "cervical cancer kills large numbers of women, many of whom are never diagnosed because local hospitals do not recognize the disease until it is too late."
United Nations University will help pioneer a fresh trail in global health research, exploring links between the planet's health and human health at an institute in Kuala Lumpur generously supported by Malaysia.
