Leeches, despite the yuck factor, have captured the hearts of two University of California, Berkeley, scientists who are part of a team that this week is publishing the leech's complete genome sequence.
Fluidigm Corporation today announced the release of 5kb and 10kb long-range PCR protocols for its Access Array™ System. Researchers interested in targeted re-sequencing projects for large cohort studies can use these new protocols and the Fluidigm Access Array System to amplify up to 48 samples per array. Long-range PCR enables new applications on the Access Array System by allowing researchers to enrich significantly more sequence per sample.

Even though minorities historically have more risk factors for AF, they represent a smaller number of those diagnosed.
The National Institutes of Health awarded a research team at the George Washington University $7.8 million to establish a rare disease network for myasthenia gravis. The network, which will be part of 25 established NIH Rare Diseases Clinical Research Networks, will include basic and clinical investigators, patient advocacy groups, and biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies working together to enhance therapeutic development for this rare disease.
